Birmingham Zoo - Multiple Projects
Trails of Africa
The African Wildlife Exhibit at the Birmingham Zoo spans 14 acres and features a significant elephant conservation initiative, bringing elephants back to the zoo. The exhibit includes mixed-species displays, with ground-level walkways and elevated observation decks for visitors.
Birmingham Zoo Entrance
The design included a new two-story building, restrooms, two plazas, an outdoor classroom, natural play areas, and an event lawn. The original entry was transformed to accommodate group entry, featuring a distinct gathering zone. The updated front plaza offers space for queuing and ticketing before visitors pass through the entry gates beneath the expansive canopy of the new main building, which houses the gift shop, administrative offices, and an education center. Beyond the gates, a spacious plaza provides ample room for families and groups to gather, with seating walls and views into the zoo exhibits from the elevated areas.
Train Bridge
This project involved a comprehensive visual review of the bridge and tunnel culvert associated with the train at the Birmingham Zoo. Our services included a thorough assessment of the structure for any deficiencies, followed by a detailed report outlining our findings, recommended repairs, and an estimated cost for the necessary improvements.
Other Projects at the Zoo:
Tortoise Winter Habitat, Alligator Exhibit, and Cougar Crossing Exhibit.
