Part of a major investment inUAB’s campus, Gorrie Hall was designed to elevate engineering education throughmodern labs, flexible learning environments, and a strong focus on studentsuccess. The building supports both classroom instruction and hands-onresearch, blending academic vision with resilient infrastructure.

Design Highlights:

Our team provided thoughtful,future-ready engineering solutions to support the building’s ambitious goals:

+ A reinforcedconcrete system designed for durability and long-term performance

+ Deep foundationsolutions suited to subsurface conditions and sensitive lab equipment

+ Lateral loadsystems integrated into the building core to ensure stability

+ Compliance withmodern structural codes and performance standards

A Purpose-Built Academic Hub

Beyond its technical strengths,Gorrie Hall is a vibrant, student-focused space. From the Student Success Suiteto specialized testing and prototyping labs, every element was built to supportgrowth, exploration, and collaboration. Positioned beside Sterne Library, the buildingplays a key role in UAB’s long-term academic strategy.

We’re proud to have contributed to a project that will shape the next generation of engineers.
